As a 26 year old, Sara Takanashi is one of the most successful female ski jumpers to date, as well as one of the most successful athletes in the history of the sport. She has won four World Cup overall titles (an all-time female record), seven World Championship medals and a Winter Olympic medal. She has broken countless records in the sport and has cemented herself in the history books.

In the last few years, her dominance has slipped. To climb back to the top, she decided what many of her contemporaries would consider too risky: to completely reinvent and rebuild her jumping form. This process has already taken a few years to realise.

What continues to fuel Sara’s pursuit for the “perfect form”; has the journey been worth it and will she be able to arrive at the “perfect form” in time for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics?
